Mommy to Bee Banner
For my niece’s shower, we made a banner that said “Mommy to Bee”. (Our shower Theme was Bees with a little Winnie the Pooh mixed in since my/our niece was doing her nursery in Vintage Winnie the Pooh.) I purchased a burlap table runner instead of using a roll of burlap, but either will work. (The runner was on mark down after Halloween and was just what I needed and was a fantastic price!!) If you use a Roll of Burlap instead of a table runner, you will need to turn down the top of the burlap about a 1/2 to 1 inch and either hot glue or sew it down. Either will work. (This is for the rope that you will need to run through the triangles to hang the banner.) Now, you need to make a stencil of your triangle.
Note: We made our banner rather big and should have measured our space first. That is my advice to you. Measure your space first and then you can back into how big your triangles should be. Funny thing is we actually made this one smaller than what we were going to go with originally, but it all worked out great anyway. :0)
Once you figure out how big you want your banner to be and have your “Go By” or Stencil triangle cut out, you will need to figure out your lettering for your Mommy to Bee. (We did a test print on a few letters first to figure out what style and what size we needed and went from there.) After you have your letters printed out, you also need to either find a Bee to print or draw one. We looked up a few bees online and ended up drawing one the size we needed. (The cute and easy bee that we drew is below.) Once the letters are printed out and the bee is printed or drawn, cut these out.
Next, the triangles need to be cut out of the burlap, using the stencil you made, after these are cut out take each triangle and add a letter or a bee on top and put some carbon paper under each letter or bee and trace the outline. (Make sure to bare down so that you will be able to see it.) Once it is traced, use your paint pen to fill it all in.
Next, feed a rope through the top of the triangles. (We taped the rope onto a pencil and fed it through the triangles, in the correct order, this way.)
Keep adding the letters and the bee “spacers” until done. The picture below is on my mantel with all the letters put together. At the shower, the mantel was smaller and it hung down to far. We ended up putting the banner in the kitchen, as you were going out to the patio. We spaced the letters out further on that one. Turned out awesome!!!
